Um , and I think once you have that culture in place within the team where it's like , hey , these younger guys are able to rely on these older guys , and , and when I was a younger guy , I was able to do that . It , it makes it really easy for when you become an upperclassman to be that mentor , be that role model to these younger guys and . Be like , hey , any , any question you have , like , feel free to text me , call me .
Um , for me , I had a great relationship with my AAU coach , and she was such a strong female role model for me , and I think Listening to everything she had to say and taking her feedback and kind of just trusting the process from someone that's been there before . If you can find that sort of mentor , like I'm so lucky I still like text and call her all the time and continue to ask for advice , but I'd say finding a mentor , whether it's a coach or maybe even like a college athlete that you can Kind of just receive reassurance that you're doing the right things and to trust the process . Hi , I'm Claire Keswick .
I've also had great coaches like my high school coach , uh , Brian Schneider , um , and then , um , Coach Mac here at Creighton have all been great role models and coaches and . Mentors in my life , um , and helped me . The biggest piece of advice that they've , you know , instilled in me is that you know it's a process , you know , things aren't gonna happen overnight , um , that's where you gotta keep your head down , keep working , um , and through all the ups through the downs , um , you know , stay level headed and , um , continue to work hard and and all that you do and , um , and everything will take care of itself .
And their sports . Um If they don't have that um support that they need or that mentor in their life , I'm hoping that my program can help them and um you know , motivate them to continue to pursue their dreams and go after all their goals . Um I would say my number one piece of advice would be to never count yourself out .
Everything's so unique to everybody . So for me , a lot of the teaching and the mentorship came from the mental side of the game , being able to You know , kind of push through some of the adversity of those long days and really how to turn yourself around when you know it's going to be a long day . So one of the biggest things that I focus on , not to sound like a broken record , but really is strengthening my mental game .
