So I would encourage athletes , whether you're injured and you can't really run or you can't participate in your sport or you can only partially , I would challenge them to find something that you can do because there is always something that you can do . My recruitment process . was um pretty , it was sort of rocky .
So I definitely try to get better at the things that I'm not necessarily the best at or I need to cut corners or make sure I get better and at the small things in this area , uh just try to do as many hard things or things that are difficult for me as possible . Uh My recruitment process , my recruitment process is actually uh , a little different than the normal recruiting process . I actually didn't have a single offer , a single interest or even had a conversation with the college coach about football until my 11th grade year of high school .
And that also just made me really appreciate the sport and I found ways to train throughout that , whether it be with my dad , maybe with some friends like socially distanced and it was nice because it was all outside , but it definitely all the challenges I've had have made me appreciate the sport so much more . My recruitment process started . Probably my freshman year just with coaches looking at us , even though they can't talk to us till June 15th of in between our sophomore and junior year , but they started coming to our showcases for the ECNL League um about freshman year and we weren't talking to them , but we were emailing them our schedules and whatnot , and we'd have about 50 coaches a game back then , and then once it hit .
Um , so really one of the things that I've learned from those guys in the past and even guys on the team now is how to control and slow my swing down to get the result I want even though I feel like I might not be swinging it as fast or hitting it as far , the results still end up being better or the same , if not better distance wise and all that stuff . So my recruitment process was Maybe a little bit different . I , I was in between , you know , a lot of different sports that I loved , you know , picking and choosing what I ultimately wanted to do in college .
So I just look for any opportunity to get a little bit of extra time on the field on my own to work on individual skills because our time to scrimmage and play at full speed with a full field is limited . Um My recruitment process was a bit interesting . I started out my recruitment process my freshman year of high school and started having those phone conversations and then we went into the dead period where the NCAA started the um band until uh the summer going into your junior year .
